Ballet dancers are prolific users of Instagram, the increasingly popular online photo sharing service, and their feeds typically overflow with cat portraits, pre-performance pictures of costumes and dressing rooms, and action shots taken either in rehearsal or from the wings.
While away performing in Saratoga, however, New York City Ballet soloist Antonio Carmena (with whom I collaborate on The Ballet Cook Book Dinner Series) began posting a series of charming photos that differ from the standard fare, showing him in a variety of classical poses in the aisles of grocery stores and even a Home Depot. If my local retail outlets looked like this, I’d be far less inclined to do all of my shopping online.
Take at least 12 of these, Antonio: They’d make a great calendar!
