I’m Ryan Wenzel. After discovering a passion for dance just a few years ago, I’ve seen as much of it in New York (and other places) as possible. My favorite choreographers include George Balanchine, Mark Morris, Merce Cunningham, and Paul Taylor. In addition to writing this blog, I edit the dance section of The Brooklyn Rail.
I grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and graduated from Northwestern University in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. I previously worked as an online editor for Details magazine and now manage digital marketing and communications for Henry Street Settlement, a nonprofit organization based in the Lower East Side. I live in Manhattan with Oscar, my Boston terrier.

Thanks, Rebecca! I love your blog as well. I’ve just added you to my blogroll.
I too grew up in the Midwest (Appleton, Wisconsin) and started ballet at the age of 4. I fell in love and found it to be a passion of mine as well. I look forward to reading your work.
Great blog, Ryan! But how about Eating George Balanchine installment #2? I’d love to see some of Adams’ recipes.
Thanks, Ken! We actually had to delay the Diana Adams dinner. I should have noted that in my first dinner post. It’ll now be held April 22. I’ll definitely blog about it!
Hi Ryan,
Beautiful layout for this blog, as well as substantial information wittily presented.
I own a copy of the Ballet Cook Book, but I’m not a cook. I used it for other purposes (information on Balanchine!) – Elizabeth Kendall
